Industry 4.0: Sant’Anna School ARTES 4.0 Competence Centre receives research funds from Italian Ministry of Economic Development. Focus on Advanced Robotics and enabling digital Tech & Systems
On January 28, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (Direzione Generale per la politica industriale, la competitività e le piccole e medie imprese) concluded the negotiation process for the Competence Centres and approved a 10,66 million euros funding for the ARTES 4.0 Competence Centre project coordinated by Sant’Anna School.
The five-year ARTES 4.0 project will focus on Advanced Robotics and enabling digital Technologies & Systems 4.0 to foster innovation for long-term sustainable growth and development of Italian industry and manufacturing sector.
Sant’Anna School Artes 4.0 Competence Centre is supervised by Professor Paolo Dario and Professor Massimo Bergamasco. Through a public-private partnership (127 members) combining technological expertise, technology transfer and education on advanced robotics and enabling technologies, 13 universities and research centers ricerca (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Scuola Normale Superiore, Università di Pisa, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Università di Siena, Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca, Università Politecnica delle Marche, Università degli Studi di Perugia, Università degli Studi di Sassari, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy), 1 National Authority for Occupational Health and Safety (INAIL), 5 companies (Trenitalia, Comau, ESI Italia, Rea Impianti, Idrotherm 2000), 5 foundations and third sector associations (Fondazione Don Gnocchi, Confartigianato Vicenza – Digital Innovation Hub, Meccano S.p.A., Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences, CONSEL - Consorzio ELIS per la Formazione Professionale Superiore), 4 enterprises (Tecnalia, T.I.M.E., Laboratori ARCHA, Pure Power Control) and 7 start-up companies (Alleantia, Certema, Mediavoice, Wisense, Stargate Consulting, LK Lab, IDEA SOC. COOP).
The ARTES 4.0 Competence Centre will serve as catalysts for transformative changes. It has the potential to redefine innovation processes and transform industries and economic activities. The Competence Centre will provide training and applied research to support companies embracing digital technologies and industrial innovation.
Tuscany town Pontedera offers the most promising field for agreement among different organizations and promises to be the fulcrum in the evolution of a digital innovation hub to fuel sustainable long-term growth.
